Irish Regiments

A List of men of the Irish Regiments

This list is taken from the Ormond manuscripts in the National Library Dublin, it is a nominal roll of the officers and is endorsed, in a contemporary hand, "List of men gone unto the Isles. Sent by the Lord of Antrim to my Lord Ormonde, 15 Nov. 1644"

Lord Antrim recruited the men sent to Scotland (the Isles), Lord Ormonde provided the money and transport, and the Catholic Confederation of Kilkenny voted 'teo thousand muskets, two thousand four hundredweight of powder, proportionable match' and 'two hundred barrels of oatmeal' to assist the expedition.
